Flash Motors Infinity X Challenges Dragonfly Hyperscooter
Flash Motors introduces the Infinity X microtechnology scooter, designed to outperform the popular Dragonfly hyperscooter.
Cyprus-based startup Flash Motors debuted its Infinity X premium microtechnology scooter to compete with London-based D-Fly Group’s flagship product, Dragonfly Hyperscooter.
First introduced in 2019, the Dragonfly was the world’s first hyperscooter, a direct upgrade to the standard electric scooter. The four-wheel personal mobility vehicle was relaunched as The Phoenix, with a $4,000 price tag, in 2022.
Flash Motors debuted its $10,000 Infinity X at Las Vegas CES 2024, boasting specs matching its price. It was designed for riders unsatisfied with the average hyperscooter’s performance.
Infinity X vs Dragonfly
Despite the Dragonfly having specs far above a traditional e-scooter, many riders still crave more, especially fans of scooter racing.
Below is a comparison between the first hyperscooter and the latest microtechnology scooter.
Need for Speed
The Phoenix offers a top speed of 50 kilometers (32 miles) per hour, placing it above most electric scooters that peak at 40 kph (25mph). It is powered by two 500W motors, one in each front wheel.
Infinity X uses a Dual BLDC hub 1.5KW high-performance motor to zoom up to 120 kph (75mph). It is 140% faster than the Dragonfly, with its single motor providing 50% more electric horsepower than the latter’s two combined.
Single-Charge Output
D-Fly’s hyperscooter utilizes a 20Ah Samsung battery, which can cover up to 80 kilometers (50 miles) with one full charge. It takes 3 hours to charge from empty to full and 2 hours from 30% to full.
Flash Motors’ microtechnology scooter, powered by a 29.4Ah Samsung li 21700 50gb battery, can traverse 110 kilometers (70 miles) before needing a recharge. It needs 6 hours of charging from empty to full. In exchange for twice the charge time, it offers 37.50% more distance.
Weigh and Durability
The London-made hyperscooter has an 18kg (39lbs) 3K weave carbon fiber composite and aluminum deck. It combines two brake systems: electric ABS for the front and dual drum for the rear.
Cyprus’ newest microtechnology scooter has a 46kg (101lbs) 6061 aluminum alloy and carbon fiber frame. It possesses a 4-piston dual disk brake system for the front and the rear. Though 155.56% heavier, it is near-impervious to physical impact and resistant to the elements.
Conclusion
Infinity X is a tier above the Dragonfly Hyperscooter in terms of performance.
